I love the shadow throwing behavior here, Wayne. I wonder if the Snowy does this to startle prey or if this is a technique to tone down their very white visibility. As for the image itself, good visibility and detail. It looks like the top of the right wing and the head are the hottest part of the whites, pushing the limits on gamut. Nonetheless, a beautiful and dramatic display of hunting behavior.

I like Phil's assessment of the image. It is the white area on the back behind the neck that is a little distracting for me. With the back lighting, I can't tell if the area is "blown". And we are so sensitive to blown whites in these birds. I particularly like the way the reflection has been distorted.

Wayne
I like what appears to be a look of intense concentration and how the snowy isn't concerned about you, it is focused on its prey. Love the spread of the wings, the bubbles on the water from the bird's movement and the contrast between the white bird and the dark water.
Very nice image as posted.
I'm looking forward to when the snowys return here in spring.

Very nice Wayne. I like the contrast in this image a lot. The pose of the bird is great and teh exposure looks pretty good to me. The nice reflection is a great bonus.

A really neat reflection shot Wayne, if you have the room I´d trade a little less on top for more on bottom to give it a more symmetrical look.

I like this one, Wayne. It almost looks like he is posing for himself in the water reflection.
