1D2n, 600mm f4 is, 25mm extension tube, 1/125s, f6.3, iso 400. Fill flash.

I hadn't seen these until a few days ago and they are fun to watch. They are fearless, but don't stay in one position for more than a couple of seconds. This is one of a few shots that was sharp.

An immensely satisfying image just to look at Ian. I love that crest and like the arched perch and the IQ is just outstanding. Pretty hard to hide any significant flaws in a 1200 pixel image and I just don't see any. Love it.

The spectacular crest looks like a royal crown and the bird has a stately stance. This one should go into your large collection of elite images.

Ian,

I love how that crest is raised, it looks like a very saucy bird like that. Wonderful background colors, details, sharpness, light, perch and comp. Because of the backgroud this image feels dreamy to me.

The perch perfectly mirrors the bird's head. Excellent photo.

IQ on the bird and background are top notch. Absolutely stunning detail on the bird's head. The perch is also interesting, especially with the frost on it. The feet aren't as sharp as the body, maybe a little more dof? I don't know what lurks below, but I would like to see a bit more of that interesting branch rather than having it cut off at the edge of the lower frame. Thanks for posting this wonderful image .

The detail on the larger image is stunning Ian. To make a 10/10 an 11/10 more dof to get that back leg/perch would have been nice.

cheers
