Snoqualmie River trail below Snoqualmie Falls in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains about 45 minutes east of Seattle. Brrrr! It’s been cold here.
D200, 300/2.8 hand held/steadied on padding on top of boulder at river’s edge; f22, 0.8, ISO 100, -1.0 EV.
Thanks for viewing and sharing your thoughts.

'Cool' subject, Catherine--looks like a frozen turtle! How were the falls doing? I used to go there quite often when i lived out that way.

This is a very interesting photograph Catherine! I like the texture of the ice and the water. It all looks as if it was liquid metal (mercury).

Really like the detail in the ice, along with the swirling water. Nicely put together composition Catherine.

Beautiful patterns and I like the slight hint of cyan to emphasize the coldness.

Wonderful image.

I visited that trail often during my years in Seattle. Brings back good memories. There used to be a deadfall across the trail that I could never make up my mind to go over or under. Banged a camera on a tripod off it one time--that was a couple hundred smackers repair bill.

Excellent shot, Catherine. That's some great looking subject and the moving water is a great framing for it.

The thumb certainly doesn't do this justice. Absolutely wonderful textures here that can't be seen in the super-small version and the iced rock is a great shape. Well done.

Catherine,

This is wonderful! The texture and details are amazing especially considered this was only braced against a rock. The texture in the water is a wonderful fit to this beautifully captured scene and the detail in the ice covered rock is excellent too. This is just great bottom to top.

I like the fluid motion here. The ice shrouded rock is a great anchor and interesting subject. Nice work.
