Greater Yellowlegs

Captured this Yellowlegs on a dock, and was surprised when it didn't fly off. There was an ugly rubber strip stapled to the edge, which I've cloned out. Did a little dodge on the tail to try to bring out more detail, and did some selective sharpening around the eye.

C&C welcomed and appreciated.

I think the bird looks very good Doug. Nice exposure, clean background and I love those namesake legs. You dealt well with the dock perch.

I can't imagine where the bird got it's name from...
Some nice detail on the birds breast Doug. F8 worked well here as the bird is pretty sharp all round.

I like the BG and bird a lot Doug. The perch works for me because it is very weathered and looks pretty natural and unobtrusive because of it.

Hi Doug, was just scanning thru the Avian and your photo caught my eye. I had to check it out closer. Very nice! The details are great! :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:

Doug

I think the yellowlegs looks very nice and I like the weathered look of the perch a lot.

I'm not sure about the square comp though, if you have more space above the head to make this a vertical comp that might make a stronger comp.

Love the eye contact.

If there was ever an image to explain why these are called yellowlegs this is it. Wonderful details, light, pose, and perch.

Nicely done, Doug. A little tightly framed at the bottom, but well done considering the dock, and the pose and framing worked quite well.

Doug:
Very nice as posted, but the suggestions for a different crop made in earlier comments could make this an even stronger image. :toast:
