Wadi Rum Shadows

by Karsten Wrobel

Gallery: LandscapePosted December 2, 2009350 views18 comments
It's been a very busy period with work lately and here is my first post for quite a while.
This was taken from an ultra light above the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan (from a two-week-trip I managed to squeeze in at the end of Octobre)

A very easy picture to take once up in the air... I remember loving every minute of it but almost freezings my hands off (having forgotten to bring gloves)

Thanks for your c&c

Awesome view, landscape, and light Karsten, love it! How did you get in the air? (ie. plane, heli, hot air balloon etc?)

The light and shadow play is wonderful Karsten. Love the rich color too. Looks like you visited the moon.

Beautiful! I love the play of light going on here. You must have steady hands. This looks really sharp.

Karsten,
What a view! Good job from the air, and nice light to set this scene off.

There's such a severe contrast between the bright sunlight on the foreground and the very dim (not really dark) background. Obviously the unique view of a place I'll probably never see is fun too. I also like the semi-uniform colors.

What an excellent shot. This does look like another planet. Wonderful shadows and detail. It is interesting to see how the sand dunes form between the rock formations. Well done!

This is AWESOME Karsten! Nothing to critique here! I love the long shadows and warm light and the fact that the mountains in the distance are still in shadow, like you are watching the sun rise as the earth turns under you. What a great experience that must have been! I need to go check out the other shots from your trip!

Nice work Karsten. I love the light. It has such a nice glow-amost even a dusty quality. Very mysterious and moody.
