Hi all,

Haven't had much time to post the last two weeks but finally have some time again.

I wanted to continue with an image from Spain, this time a young bear lying on a ridge waiting for Sunset. The rimlighting immediatly caught my eye so I underexposed, but nowhere near enough for this effect, so I did the rest in photoshop with this as the result. This gave me the benefit that I had the opportunity that I could still show a bit of the ridge ( altough not all that visible in the smaller version).

Thank you for looking!

No need for apologies Jorne, we all have our periods of absence. This is very nice. That rimlighting, the positioning in the frame and the proportion of the bear in the frame. I do wish the snout would also have been rim-lit the way the body is, IMO that would have really elevated this to another level.I am not too sure about the slightly visible edge. I think my problem with it is that it starts exactly where the nose is. Still a terrific image! :toast:

Agree with Vincent on the snout but still a great image. I always love these graphic images. Great work!

Hi Jorne,

So...where the heck you been? I won't be nearly as nice as Vincent in excusing your absence

I very much like the simplicity here, but do agree that completing a few more key aspects of the profile with rim-lighting (specifically that snout) would have made a a big difference here. I really like the idea (hmmm...seems to me I've seen a few other dark bear images around lately) - and the result is very eye-catching...

Cheers Jorne - real nice to see you back...

Very nice Jorne - we were very lucky with the light that afternoon! I do agree about the snout thing - did you get shots where it was sitting more upright?

Thanks for the kind words everyone, agree on the snout but I was not that lucky sadly (hell, I got this file from the trashbin  )

Marsel, Sadly don't have an image with the bear sitting up :frown: this was the best pose I had.

This is lovely! I can't add more than has been offerred, but just say that your idea is great and makes a really effective image...

That is so cool. I love the effect and just enough of the bears shape to know what it is.

This is awesome. Very graphical. I personally like it as it is. The snout would have surely made it even better, but this too is working for me. :toast: :toast:
