Knock, knock? Who's there? Orange. Orange who? Orange you glad Lon is almost finished posting orange Yosemite tree images?
Well, here's yet another autumn image from Yosemite captured a couple of weeks ago. I revisited yet another location I've watched for a number of years and in fact I actually captured this image twice during the same trip. The first here was with diffused lighting, the second was from the next morning with direct morning light. Certainly a big difference between the two and I'd be curious to hear your thoughts. Personally, I prefer the first version. There's simply more contrast than the film can handle in the second version, but it still has it's appeal.
On a related side note, I mentioned I've been watching and photographing this pair of oaks for many, many years. Check out this image I
captured in 1995. Amazing what a few 15 years can make. Notice in the recently captured images, the large, fallen trunks and tree parts strewn about the meadow. 15 years ago, the meadow looked pretty clean and you can see the huge pine that eventually toppled over no doubt in during a winter storm.
It's really an amazing thing to be able to witness and capture nature, her beauty and being able to capture those changes over time.
4x5, V100f, 210mm.
Thanks for your thoughts and honest critiques!

edit: I was going to add the 2nd version as a comment, but I forgot it's bigger than 200k.

I do sort of like the morning light image a bit better of the two images though. The light on the leaves and tree trunks is superb, and I like the more centered placement of the two main trees. Seems to work better to my eye, against the rock face. Gorgeous work. Hope you have more to share.
Another beauty.

I think I like the light a bit better in the second version, but both are really good.

Of the two, I prefer the main post here, although the one with direct morning light is quite lovely in its own right.
The detail in this is incredible. There is so much to look at in the scene beyond the two main trees. All the pines clinging to the granite walls in the background for instance. Really nice!
