Starry Night

This was from my Septemeber tour in Yellowstone NP. I have photgraphed White Dome Geyser a number of times at night with both trails and star points. This was a new angle for me as I got the reflection and the milky way. Painted with headlamp and noise ninja used in PP'ing.

Very cool shot, I like the blowing geyser and starry sky through the mist.

Beautiful and very "other worldly", Roman.

I definitely like it. Very well executed shot. Man, have these ever been popular since this summer! It may just be web compression, but I detect a lot of noise and artifacts in the sky surrounding the stars. It seems really smudgy from the anti-noise softening.

Love the comp, it seems suffering a bit of the noise reduction effect

Hey Roman, good to see you posting on NPN! What a cool shot! I like the star reflections, a nice touch. Would love to see your techs on this one. No nits for me, only that I would have loved to see a larger version. :toast:

One of the most original geyser photos I've ever seen, Roman. This is a highly successful image.

Wow, another fantastic shot Roman. It's not easy to catch the reflection but I'm sure the next batch of next generation sensors should do the trick.

Good to see you over here. You coming down south again? I still like this shot. The reflection is nice to have and I think if you fine tune the noiseware you got a wall hanger.

Hey All,
Thanks for the comments! Wouldn't you know that I ran it through another round of Noise ninja B4 posting....just worried at the smaller size!
Specs....sorry....ISO 6400 at f4.5 and 30 seconds on the Canon 1D Mark III.

Roman,

I could have sworn I posted a comment on your first posting, but apparently not! So welcome to NPN and the ES&S Gallery. Your first was excellent, and this one is fantastic! I have no experience with star/night photography or digital for that matter, but I can certainly recognize a successful and unique capture!

Congrats on a beautifully captured, crafted and executed image. Well done.

Couldn't have said it better myself...beautifully captured, crafted and executed!
I really like how the curve of the Milky Way mirrors the curve of the geyser stream.
