Forming of the Seed

This is the pistel and stamen apparatus of the Tall Bluestem grass in NE Kansas. The plants are tall and the low angle was not difficult.

The reproductive cycle is amazing in all life.

The Bluestem's 6-7 foot tall shaft will will die and remain standing all winter. The seeds will form and fall to the ground of course. When one ponders such cycles we are undoubtedly humbled when we compare our technology to such a miracle.

Nikon D300, 135 mm Nikkor manual f/2.8 @ f/9, ISO 400, 1/1000 sec., 30% vertical crop.
