Autumn in the Rockies

Twin Lakes/Independence Pass, Colorado on a beautiful morning. Low clouds had hidden the peaks and when they lifted a gorgeous scene was unveiled.

This is from a few years ago, it was downloaded and promptly forgotten in the dark depths of the hard drive. I recently have been going through images to prepare for getting a website up and running and rediscovered this. I would appreciate your comments and critiques. Please see the larger version.

Hi Scott,
Great image well worth the wait! IMO the highlights, especially in the peak area far right could be brought down just a little.
Hope you find some more jewels in that drive.

The fall colors really add a nice touch here, as does the frosting of snow on the peaks. A very lovely scene for sure.

Woah, the large version is awesome. The red and yellow patches (not sure what they are exactly) give a nice splash of color to the image. Nothing comes to mind right now that could improve the image. Nice shot.

Scott,

What a wonderful mountain autumn landscape. The capture of the transition between fall and winter is beautifully captured - what a grand view! The scattered autumn color contrasted with the dusting of snow just makes for a great combination.

This also hits home for me as I spent a number of summers camping with my family at Twin Lakes - oh, back in the 70's.... and I never was able to see it like this. thanks for the memories!

The larger version is extremely nice. Great mix of autumn color and snow capped mtns. Can't think of anything I would change. Beaufiful image.

Twin Lakes is one of my favorite spots all year long. I like that you captured the fresh snow along with the nice colors, the detail looks good at large size. Its not groundbreaking, but you already knew that. If you are wondering if its website material, i think that depends on what other shots you have of Twin Lakes.

This is very nice, Scott, though, for me, the comp lacks depth without a foreground, and therefore, I prefer it with the water cropped out altogether - I find it a distraction

Wow, this is a beauty and deserves to be hanging large on a wall. The mountains have a nice sense of depth. Can't beat the contrast of colors between snow and foliage. Nits - the foreground isn't that exciting and I wonder if cropping would help. It might unbalance the comp though (which I like as is). Also I might bring down the hottest highlights just a bit. That could just be a web thing though.
I wish I had made this, Scott. :toast:

This is a beautiful scene. It seems to capture several seasons at once. If this were mine I would probably burn some of the sky to keep my eye form running up and off of the image.
