Nice color Jack. I'd be tempted to rotate the photo a bit clockwise and then crop, even if it's not quite true to the horizon. I feel like the tilt of the trees makes it look skewed.

The light seems just a bit too harsh, Jack. The color contrasts are very nice here but I don't quite find the composition either simple or inviting enough to really grab me. Try isolating some repeating patterns in the trunks/foliage or some strong lines leading the eye up through the forest into that sky. Also, try utilizing backlighting or sidelighting in situations like this, with the sun out. Just my two cents. Good luck!

Jack,

Agreed that the light is a little hot, but surprisingly the colors are holding up pretty well. A beautiful stand of aspen and the deep blue with the golden yellow aspens is always a wonderful combination.

It's a bit tough to evaluate though at this size but it does look like you've got some clipping in the whites of many of the trunks.

I was just thinking that if you cropped the brightest set of trunks on the left, you would be left with a pretty good scene and comp. The narrow format even emphasizing the tall trees.

Thanks for posting,

Lon

I agree that it's a little hot, but the comp works well enough for me. Overall it's a pleasant scene, and I really like the colors.
