Still a warm autumn here in Holland. Normaly this beetle hides in the sand during winter time but I was very lucky to find a young male. They are very rare over here. The autumn colors are nice at the moment so they make a perfect background.

This is a spectacular image. Love the detail of the beetle and terrific colours. For me, this is one of my favourite invertebrate images I have seen. Very well done!!

That is a really beautiful image of this insect. The color in the background really makes this image work.

As a nit, I'd like to see the back of the insect better lit, but is it is still a nice image as it.

Thanks for posting.

Fantastic shot. The background really makes the image surreal, like lava squirting out of the volcano. The effect would be perfect without the foreground leaves; ?cropping out the leaves might give the picture a prehistoric feel . In any case still a great image as it is. Well done. Really love this.

Great details and angle of view. I don't mind the leaves, since they go so well with the bg colour-wise. Excellent shot!
