Are you talking to me?

Temperature dropped dramatically overnight form 27C to 16C overnight. Went bug hunting at the park during lunch time and the usual busy butterflies are no where to be seen. However, this mantis was perched on a candle bush flower pretending to be a leaf. It waited patiently for a fly to land and then strike out with its folded front legs to garb the poor fly. After eating its prey, it turned and looked straight into the camera as if to say 'that was delicious'.

D90 Nikkor 105 macro f/18 1/80 on camera fill flash EC-2 handheld. Thanks for looking and C&C appreciated.

Love the complimentary colors Gary, well composed & an excellent POV...
She's "praying" for some more butterfly action I see
Well done :toast:

Well done Gary, I like contrast between green and yellow on your pic.

You've put your lens to some good use! I agree with the others, the colours are great, and I especially like the colour and details on the front legs. Mantises seem to give the best of poses, I wish we had them around here... Excellent capture!

Nice shot Gary, full of character. I like the glossy face compared to the rest of the body. :toast:

Nice shot! I love the brilliant colors that still manage to retain details and contrast, as well as the nice continuity of the pale green mantis and the background green.
