While the other version was still somewhat fresh I decided to post this one for comparison. Same shooting stats, maybe slightly different processing.

Wow Lon, both images are wonderful ! I much prefer this one as the colors seem more saturated and the tree off the left is out of frame. The silhouette against that sky is just magical! :toast:

As I suspected Lon, this is the stronger version! IMO anyway  Perfect positioning of the bull, great image. :toast:

Love this comp. The elk is very sharp and the sky and elk togather are super. Thanks for sharing.

This one for sure! I might take a little off the top to get rid of the really dark URC, maybe a pano crop? Strong image...nicely done

Hi Lon,

Another super silhouette Lon - and as one who likes simple compositions I definitely prefer this one over the previous image. I'm fine with the cropping as is - I find the banding in the sky interesting...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

I love this one even more than the first. The colors of the sky just make the silhouette works so well.

Lon, I'll take this shot. To me the tree is a distraction. Either way they are both nice shots.

Lon, when I saw your first post I loved it instantly. When I read you had a version without that tree, I knew that would be even better and I am so glad you posted it. To me this is a perfect silhouette! I would like to use the opportunity of your double post to emphasise that this is what NPN is all about; share your work, ask for opinions and do something with that feedback. But remember people that this only works if we ALL also post comments on other people’s pictures.

Congrats Lon

Wonderful shot Lon! Love silhouettes and the color behind is sooo warm and rich! I think a pano would put this over the top! Congrats on your EP!! :toast:

Lon: Sorry to be so late to the party but this is excellent. I do prefer this version over the one with the tree. Congrats on a superb image and the EP. >=))>
