Wedge Brook Cascades

Upper falls on Wedge Brook in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. Canon 5DII, Canon 17-40L, polarizer. I applied in post processing a reduced opacity gaussian blur layer to simulate a soft focus filter.

Love the processing on this Ian, almost looks like you used Marc's foggy lens trick here. Looks soft yet sharp at the same time! Love the comp as well.

Great perspective Ian. I like the crisscross pattern formed by the overlapping cascades, beautiful soft light and the slight blur works very well. :toast:

I remember this spot well Ian, the last time my wife and I were there was in May of 08, the black flies almost ate us alive. Beautifully done in every aspect. Love it.

Wow, this is incredible Ian. The superb lines of your comp, the color, and the soft focus effect really all come together in an exquisite image. One of the most beautiful waterfall images I've seen in a long time.

Stunning, Ian! A good use of the gaussian blur layer. That's one of the
most beautiful streams that I've seen. A small nit, but I'm wondering if
the composition would improve by lightening the upper right corner if
possible. Nevertheless, very well done. The fallen leaves are in just
right places and in just right amount to add a nice touch.

still using it Paulo! When I do a lot of waterfall shooting I sometimes just bring the 17-40, as it is lighter in weight and I can just slap a screw-on polarizer on the lens -- no muss, no fuss, no $300 polarizers falling off the lens like with the Nikon 14-24mm . . .
