Great Blue Stalking 2

A recent image from Ocean Springs in early morning light. The nearby bank prevented getting a complete reflection of the bird, so I framed this one horizontally.

Olympus E-3, ZD 300 F2.8 & EC20, Wimberley I, ISO 200, 1/800 f5.7, 0.0EV, full frame.

Nice comp and lighting. This is an interesting but sort of unusual pose. I like it. Horizontal is fine to me.

Love the angle of the neck and the clarity. Reflection and color in the water are bonuses

Great pose Bill, love the neck extension and head angle. I like the light, the setting and the ripples on the water.

I might have composed with a touch more room above the heron's head since you could not get the whole reflection, it feels a smidge tight there to me.

Bill, I like the pose. To answer Dennis' question. What is it doing in that pose? It is looking for fish. If you had your eyes on the side of your head like this bird does, you would have to tilt your head too to see down below you. Anyway, I like everything about this bur also agree more room above the head would improve the image.
