Sony A700
Tokina 828 AT-X Pro @ 180mm
ISO 100, 1/80 @ f11, CPL

Jumping the gun on the theme just a little to jog everyone's memory. Fall is still a long way off in my part of the world so thought I would post one from my trip to the Sierras last year. Taken somewhere north of Bishop on US 395. All comments welcome.>=))>

Beautiful shot Bill. Love the anchoring boulder and the gold diagonal. But the leaves contrasting against the rock are also hard to beat.

I love the mixture of reds and yellows in the trees Bill. Nice contrast with the rock too. I wonder if the colors in the trees could be richened up just a tad?

Bill, just my taste but I also would like to see a little more color in the trees. Great comp!

Bill, this looks (in the very best sense) like a perfectly ordinary stand of aspens in high country. (Maybe "quintessential" in addition to "ordinary.") But to achieve this, you had to frame the right trees the right way, against the rocks, with foreground grass not too saturated, get the leaves to show up as their own yellow/gold, and then represent the tones the way we perceive them, whereas I suspect the camera's sensor spread them pretty far apart.

Beautiful. The rocks form a perfect backdrop for the beautiful aspens.

Beautifully composed, Bill ( that rock in the LRC is a real winner ! ) and I like the delicate colouring and the shafts of light through the trees very much
