Where Strangers Meet

Michigan’s Upper peninsula is one of my favorite places for photography, especially in early October. My plan was to shoot Bond Falls, but Mother Nature was not on the same schedule. It rained most of the day, but when the skies cleared for brief moments, I found time to capture this intimate autumn scene.

Was I disappointed with the weather? Not a chance! Every day I’m out in nature shooting is a blessing, and today was no different. I spent time in the parking lot in rain gear chatting up other photographers, sharing stories, locations and the bond that seems to form naturally between kindred spirits. The day couldn’t have been better as I made new friends and new photographs.

Brian, the glisten and the droplets on the spruce and the leaf gives this a rainy atmosphere which appeals to me very much.
