Some of those who frequent the CSNP forum will recognize this general location from a shot that I posted earlier in the year (thus the title). While this was taken on October 2, it is in keeping with the theme of NAD. I specifically went down to the Palo Duro Canyon located in the Texas Panhandle after work to breathe in deep as a calm before the storm of the upcoming busy season where I work. While I often wish that I lived in the Rocky Mountain region, I am thankful for the opportunity to have the Palo Duro Canyon so close to where I live (Amarillo, TX). It is nice that in a matter of 30 mins. I can get away from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. On this night at this time it felt like I had the canyon to myself. I saw a few mountain bikers along the short hike to this location but by this time there was just a stillness in the canyon. It was refreshing just to pause and take it all in. This is not a groundbreaking photo. In fact, I probably wouldn't have posted it other than it fits with the theme of NAD. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy it.

Sometimes the memories of the time and the feel of a place even a familiar one is much better than the photograph.

I'm enjoying it for sure Brian. It's great to see what others were doing and photographing on the same day; such a contrast from where I was photographing! The layers in the butte at the top are very nice.

The Palo Duro is a magical place. Glad to see that someone who loves it is getting it on "film."

This is what it's all about - getting out in nature and letting her powers rejuvenate your soul. This photo conveys very well the solitude and calm you describe. Looks like a cool place.

Brian, this image represents the isolation and solitude that many of us seek for our photography. A fitting image for NAD.
