Stars over Mt Rushmore
by Rob Graham
I just returned from a trip to South Dakota. I managed to sneak in some nature photography, usually early morning while the rest of the family got ready :). The rest of the time, we did the tourist thing. We went to "face rock", as my 4 year nephew called Mount Rushmore, late in the day so as to see the monument lit up at night. I took this shot after sunset, but before the lights were turned on. The light on the rocks came from light pollution and I imagine the 1/2 moon helped a little. 50D, ISO 800, f/2.8, 20 sec.
