I know this is an icon shot of Mt. Rainier at Reflection Lake. I tried to vary it a bit by getting some forground - a bit of the runoff stream and grass. The evening shadows were stronger than I liked but I'm happy enough with the shot. GND would have improved it as well but I wasn't able to use it this day.

D50, ISO 400, 16mm, f8, 1/125th hand held, B&W polarizer

Rainier and the sky look properly exposed so I don't think a grad was necessary. If you are using Lightroom you can try the gradient filter to darken that area slightly if you are so inclined. The grasses make for a nice FG. There is a marked CW rotation which should be corrected and I would get rid of those contrails to the left of the mtn.

steve, simple and effective photo. the rotation needs to be dealt with and the contrails. the shadows do detract a little bit but not too much. overall a pleasing image!

The light is harsh, but that doesn't affect the great view you have got here. Some thoughts - light CW tilt and cloning out the contrails. Aside from that I only wish you had a better light. The composition looks fine to me.

I like the depth caused by the light's shadows and think it enhances the picture. Great comp of a beautiful scene. Agree with the two easy fixes and then you'll have a real winner! :toast:

The exposure looks pretty good to me, the whites regardless of the bright nature of the light are not blown out. I like this composition using the runoff in the fg and the texture of the grasses. Clone the contrails and rotate slightly as suggested above, then you'll have a winner!.
