Unquenchable Fire

Hi all.

I shot this gazania hybrid the other day using a double exposure. I shot focused on the front stamen at f5.6, then dialed up to f3.5 for the back ones. I liked the combination of exposures and the drama of the shot.

Any and all thoughts appreciated.

Nathan

Nikon D80, Sigma 180 macro, tripod, ISO 200, f5.6 and f3.5 (two shots in camera)

Nathan...I like this a lot... especially the glow of the yellows, the splash of black in the bg petals, and the bold orange framing everything

Sensational. I love the colors and the soft feel with a bit of sharpness to rest the eye. Excellent technique, Nathan.

I've thought of trying something like your technique here but after some failures (yeah, they were really bad) I didn't think it would work. Now that I know how spectacularly it can work, I'll have to try it some more.

Thanks for posting - now you havve me thinking about my next shots! :toast: :toast:

Well done! I have yet to try the double exposure, but you are inspiring me. Love the dof, the "blend" of exposures and yes, the drama. Wonderful!

Cool! Its nice to see people going out on a limb and trying new things. Very original combination of composition and DOF. The colors are awesome! I would prefer a bit more DOF but this is really nice. :toast:
