five image stack at probably f/4.0. I tried this with fewer images in the stack and couldn't get the dof I wanted and still keep the bg soft. Stacking is a pain but I don't know how else to have gotten this dof effect.
Comments and suggestions welcome.

David,
On a stack like this I'd take a few images at different aperture settings with the plane of focus on the back most element that I want sharp. I'd then start from the front of the subject and move the plane of focus through the field until I reach the back most image element that I want in sharp focus. When I reach that point the stack is done unless I've jumped over some area that I want in focus. In this case it was the back of the stigma that was my endpoint. It's actually easier to do than to say. (smile)
It's a gorgeous interpretation of your lily. Bravo!

It is very nitty...but I think with the center stamen I see a touch of what looks like motion blur, but is probably just from the stack. Like I say, .005% of nitting on a wonderful shot.

This is absolutely stunning. Congrats on the WP.
I went back and looked at some of your earlier photos that seemed to have led up to the stacking method you used for this image. Terrific idea, with wonderful results.
