I find these butterflies always hard to shoot. Seems like they want to stay inside the bush where its hard to isolate them against a decent bg. Usually when I do get a shot the whitish colored spot gets burned out.

You didn't mention that they are also very lively and skittish! You did a very nice job on this one. My only nit might be the dead flowers LR and under the BF. I still would like to call this one mine.

Very nice shot. I think it also works well as a vertical.

Randy,

Extremely sharp with a nice nondistracting background. I find the light and shadows look unusual. Was the original taken with the butterfly feeding upside down and you just flipped the image?

Thanks Ronnie,
I guess I didn't pay attention to the shadows. It was shot vertically and rotated. I have posted vertical shots in the past like that and some would always say it looks better rotated so I just rotated this one.

I like the isolation on the bf and its proboscis probing down into the flossom. Nicely done.

I know what you mean about the difficulty isolating them against a noncompeting background! You did terrific here! Those eyes are so very sharp and well defined! And the composition is perfect!
