Shot in lake Abraham, moments before sunrise. A heck of a interesting location shown to me by Darwin.

Wow.. this is really incredible.. I'm fascinated by the various layers of the bubbles, and the incredible clarity of the ice. Did you take some pure abstracts as well? While the mountain and blue skies are a nice component of the image, the bottom half is by far the most interesting to me. One day I really need to get somewhere where these bubbles form! What time of year was this?

Wow. This is a killer shot, Emmanuel. I think an abstract of the bottom 1/3 is also a really strong image.

Incredible foreground. I like the mountains at the top but agree with the others that an abstract of the bottom would also work very well - bet it would take some people a little time to figure out what they're looking at without the mountains included.

Now, that is nuts! Like Floris said, This is great the way it is, but I hope you came home with a card full of abstract bubble shots as well. Still, a great shot, with a lot of attention holding power. Can't wait to see what else you might have coming next.

What a spectacular foreground. Those ice bubbles certainly steal the show. The background is great too. Did you get any glow on the peaks later in the sunrise?

What an awesome scene. The foreground alone stands strong all by itself, and the background adds a bit of perspective. I would love to see some abstract of the foreground if you have it, if not I could see the bottom half of this image as a strong abstract by itself.

I’m not sure if I did shot any abstracts at this location of the lake. And did not run into any other spots around the lake with so many bubbles either. I was focused on this composition until the sun hit the very top of the peak. After that the light did not interest me as much.

I've never seen anything like this before. Great shot though I'd almost just be interested in just seeing the foreground as an abstract.

i too hope that you took some abstractions of this - this is extraordinary. this, itself is good but that FG really draws one's eye in and the BG almost diminishes into irrelevance.

Emmanuel... what an inspiring shot!!! This is the best landscape picture I have seen in a long time!!! Great composition and exposure... 2 stop GND does not even show any transition line how did you do that? Amazing... regards, Rajeev

Rajeev, I pretty much always hand hold the GND. And in long exposures I gently move it up and down. That fades the effect of the filter on the horizon, I use a similar motion that I used to dodge or burn a print in a darkroom. But even if I wanted to keep it still at that location there was a some wind, so keeping it still wouldn't of been easy anyways.

Yeah, all FG baby!! All FG! To heck with the mountains. We've all seen mountains. Mountains are boring in comparison to that FG. I wanna see a close-up of the bottom 50%, and please, let me see it large.

Thank you all for your comments.
Verena and Greg, there was a touch of pick light that touched the very peak of the mountain, then it quickly turned brighter white. I might post one from ten minutes later.
@everyone asking about abstract version. Took a quick look at the couple of abstracts and was not all that pleased, I was too concentrated on this composition and the light was good for a short time.
