This is so beautiful, Gigi! I love the bright red against the black of the (burned?) wood. The patterns in the wood ad so much to it!

The background makes the shot... the red geramium is the exclamation point! Wonderful combination.

This is a stunner Gigi, the red against the black grain is perfect. Love the detail and I love how you brought so much out of the black area and the highlights.

Thie swirls of the dark wood make a dramatic background for the red flower.
Lovely presentation.

For Ellen or who may be interested. The wood is not burned. In the mountain the very old plancks take quite different colors depending on position and humidity. In a sunny and dry orientation it becomes red, in a shadowy and damp tends to be always more dark. This seems in the way to carbonize after 700 years that is standing there.

It just has such a depth to it. Looks like maybe you used a reflector to bounce light in, and it is superb.

Beautiful detail and colour of the Pelargonium against the grainy texture of the wood shows why it achieved a well deserved Photo of the Month Oct '08. Well Done!!
