While wandering along the Bahia Honda shoreline in the Florida Keys, I came upon this strange object floating in the water. It took me a few minutes to recognize it for what it was... an abandoned rope. All manner of flora and fauna had made the rope home. The crystal clear waters and clean white sand made a stark background for such an odd object.
I am always stunned by how quickly nature will take over what mankind leaves behind.

I'm sitting here with my fingers crossed that you took a CU of this object. I would love to see more of it--up close and personal, even if it's not a great shot.
Intriguing and a good post for this week's theme.
I like how the rope leads the eyes to the magnificent skyline and clouds.
This looks as though it was taken with a wide-angle lens.
Nice job.

Thanks very much for your kind words, Carol. :) You are correct, this is a wide angle shot. In fact, since I used a 1.6 crop factor camera with a 10mm focal length, I was able to bring my camera within 1.5 feet of this object (or so) and still get it it sharp focus all the way from the foreground to the distant horizon. There is - of course - some distortion from the water evident in the image, but when printed, you can see what is clinging to the rope. I've posted a crop so you can see a bit of detail. A variety of colored seaweed, small barnacles, interesting balloon shaped pods, and all kinds of little creatures... anything that needed a place to hold on. Isn't that what ropes are for, after all - something to hold on to? :)
