We were in Marquette last weekend, and I played around with some long exposures. I think I need some more practice. This was pretty underexposed, and noisy and low in colour information as a result. I need to work on metering, something I still struggle with a bit at the best of times. Plus my camera is limited to 30 s in Aperture priority, I could have gone longer in Manual mode. I might be able to tweak the white balance a bit to get some more out of it, I'll see.

Scott - I agree that its under exposed but it does have a unique look. I actually like the blue tint it has but it could use a bit more detail. I would like to see it after you edit it in PS. Please post your final result.

Mark,

In manual, try metering the clouds( or fog) about 1/2 way between the mys & the right edge. That should give you pretty close to a good setting. If its for , open up 1 stop or so and you will be there. The white balance id getting tricked as well as the camera metering.

That being said, for what ever reason, I really don't mind the blue cast. Don't ask me why but its very interesting. I bet the "true color" of this scene that you captured is even more!!

Even with film, adding exposure was ( and is ) critical to proper exposure when dealing this exposure, especially one as long as 30s!

A very interesting photo, Scott! The blue hue adds an air of mystery to the scene.

P.S.:
Hope you didn't have too many nightmares as a result of my corn stalk post last week.

I agree with Jack regarding exposure, but I like the images as is Scott......very mysterious looking!
