I have been converting some pictures taken in RAW directly into JPEG files. After using Levels, Curves, and other adjustments in CS2, I finish by going to Filter and select Unsharp Mask. A small part of the picture is presented within a preview window at 100% magnification. After selecting the values and when ticking the preview box to see before/after, often there is very LITTLE CHANGE within the 100% preview window, but I see changes (sometimes with unaccecptable artifacts) within the main picture. The 100% preview window is supposed to assist detection of oversharpening.
CS2 is fully updated. Am I doing something wrong.
Thanks
Hari

The preview pane always shows the sharpened view. If you hold down the left mouse button while the pointer is in the preview pane, it will show you the pre-sharpened view. When you release the mouse button, it will go back to the sharpened view. The preview checkbox only affects the actual image window, not the preview pane.

Walter, thanks for that.
