You think"why do I bother getting out of bed?"..My anti inspirational poster. I swear I found this E.Box turtle as is and moved it to the grass after 3 quick shots. I carry some plastic grocery bags in my vehicle(to avoid getting salmonella) incase I find turtles needing to speed up their road crossing. Have a great day
I think this is great! I like the way you positioned the turtle and the yellow lines, and the DOF. I hope it was OK...looks like it took quite a spin already to have landed upside down!

Alice,
Thanks for commenting again here. I didn't see any damage to the shell and no blood or signs of injury to it at all. For some reason it struck me as looking like maybe another animal had turned it over -I'm not sure about the chances of being knocked around by a vehicle and not being visibly damaged in some way. My count as turtle crossing guard this year is 5 so far.
That's funny, because I don't think I've seen any this year! I used to rescue them frequently, put them in a box and bring them home for my son to feed and then let go in the woods. Some are really active, and some are really shy. Can't believe I never thought about salmonella (of course we washed our hands after handling them though)! Glad you're keeping the population protected!
Leann, this is really nice. I too am like you. I have been known to stop many times and move turtles both box and otherwise off the road. I think what makes this really special is the turtle being upside down. Someone must have really gone past this one fast to blow it over on it's back. Good for you!

My husband and I are turtle savers also, but this year, I don't recall seeing any on the roads either. :) Last year, I found one in my garden.
I moved two turtles on the way to work today, and probably 5 this year. Then there were the ones who got hit before I arrived Once I moved a snapper (carefully!). Lots of turtles out by Jordan Lake. Glad this one made it, OK.

Glad to see I am not the only person to do this. I see several dozen each spring and move them off the roads.
The image works for me
