From Dpreview :"In a brief statement Adobe has announced that it has purchased the 'technology assets' of Pixmantec, the Danish company behind the RawShooter raw workflow and conversion application. Adobe states that this acquisition "strengthens Adobe's leadership position in raw processing" and that that Pixmantec's raw processing technology will be integrated into Lightroom and other Adobe products. RawShooter Premium will be discontinued although the Essential edition will continue to be available and support for existing RawShooter customers will be available from Adobe"
Cool. Rawshooter has some neat features and a much nicer user interface than ACR. Hopefully they'll combine the best of each in the next version or two.
I'm actually a bit bummed about this. As Guy states RAW Shooter has a SWEET interface and powerful features in a VERY tight/compact/FAST application. My fear is Adobe Lightroom will not be any of the above...sigh.
RAW Shooter Premium 2006 has been my primary RAW converter for quite some time....
My guess is that Adobe saw the good atributtes Raw Shooter and wanted to compete with the features. The cheapest and fastest way to do this is for Big Business to buy Small Business.
My hope is that the best of both will surface not only in Lightroom but also the CS2 replacement.
This is bad for the rse users (paid). I just can not imagine the policy of the company. hopefully c1p and others are not acquired soon...monopoly is bad.
