I really need a reliable storage system for my many images.
Any suggestions from the many solutions, I need at least 10 TB.
With fast read write so that I can open them easily to review they will all be RAW and when finished TIFF,
Thanks for any suggestions
I am going to assume you are using a desktop computer.
How many open drive bays do you have in the case? How many SATA connectors are unused on the motherboard?
If you have at least one open bay and a SATA connector on the mobo, look at the large capacity drives from HGST or Seagate. These are enterprise grade drives, and the are not inexpensive, but should meet your needs.
There are larger drives from Western Digital--up to 14 TB.
There is one caveat: Hard drives fail. Therefore you will need either internal, or external drives to be used for backup.
You could also look at a multi-drive enclosure with hot-swappable drives and software for mirroring. I am not up on these solutions, so perhaps an NPNer who uses such can guide you.

Hi Ken. I recently started using a Mobius 5 bay external drive enclosure. They recommend the use of Western Digital Red drives with it (I think you can check their website for more details). It supports all the different Raid modes and four or five different means of connecting to your computer. I'm using a simple usb3 connection and it's plenty fast for my purposes. It also supports all the Raid configurations and has quite good instructions. The WD Red drives come in at least 6TB versions (I'm using the 4's).

Here's an example for HGST (Western Digital) 6 and 8TB drives . This link goes to an Anandtech article.

It does go to sleep, but wakes up quickly.
If you are interested in a RAID-capable solution, take a look at the products from Glyph.
I also recommend WD-Red drives. They have very low failure rates.
