Has anybody used this and made it work?
I tried and found it incredibly slow, luckily i have been able to revert to 2017!

Works flawlessly for me. I'm running on a Mac platform with 32gb of memory and SSD access to the program. Images are on traditional magnetic drives.

Hi Ken. I haven't had any issues with photoshop 2018. I'm on a Windows 10 platform with 16 gb ram and CC is installed on an ssd. I did have an issue with the latest update to LR, but that's another issue.
I have CC-2018 and have not noticed any sluggishness. However, the Windows update in January that addressed the Meltdown vulnerability slowed down my machine across the board.
All my applications, including PS-CC take longer to open after the Meltdown patch, but once up and running, they do not appear to be sluggish.
(Puget Systems Obsidian Workstation: Intel i5 Quad Core 3.3 Ghz, 32 GB RAM, Intel SSD main drive, nVidia GTX 750 2 GB VRAM, Windows 10 build 1709.)
Not sure why your install is so slow. Is the application simply sluggish, or are things just not working?
What are your system specs?

No problems with PS CC 2018 on Puget Win 10 64 w/32gb RAM but I've been avoiding Windows update for couple months or more so maybe that's saving me. I had not heard of the "meltdown". However, LR is slowing to a crawl and in fact in about 5 minutes I'm going to have a remote look-see by Puget.

Meltdown is a vulnerability in CPU's from Intel, AMD, and ARM. There is a related CPU vulnerability called Spectre. Meltdown can be 'fixed' by a OS patch. Spectre can only be fixed by an update to the computer's BIOS. These vulnerabilities exist on CPU's going back many years--it's in the design of the CPU's themselves.
Some motherboard makers have already created new BIOS microcode updates to address Spectre. Be sure to check with your motherboard manufacturer's website for assistance.
PS-CC 2018 has a very recent update available through the Creative Cloud app that fixes some issues. I have installed it, and it appears to work fine.
