Hi All,

I am a new member and looking for advice on favorite photography spots on the Kenai peninsula in early to mid June.  I enjoy photographing birds, other animals and landscapes.

It doesn't look like the regional Alaska forum is active, so I thought I would post here.

I have 10 days to explore and will only be visiting the peninsula (been to Denali several times on past trips).

So far, here is what I have planned so far:
1 night south of Anchorage - will visit Potter Marsh
1 night in Whittier - glacier cruise
2 nights in Seward - explore wildlife refuge and Kenai Fjords tour
2 nights in Soldotna - day trips from there - nothing specific planned

I have 3 more nights to book.  Does anyone have advice on specific areas that I should not miss and where to stay the last 3 nights?  Opinions on Homer?

Thanks!

Spend some of those additional days driving to Homer, and take a cruise around Kachemak Bay. Different birds, different critters. Spectacular scenery. Seldovia is photogenic and fun, too.

Seward should include time in the Sealife Center.

Turnagain Arm is one of nature's wonders. Give yourself time to explore it

Be certain to stop at Tern Lake.

Be certain to take the longest cruise out of Seward (11.5 hours). Marine megafauna odds are higher.

In Anchorage, spend some time walking or bicycling along the Anchorage Coastal Trail.

This all sounds great.  I had not considered taking a longer cruise out of Seward, but I will now.

Thanks so much for responding - I appreciate it !

Visit the Portage Glacier area and maybe the Alaska Wildlife Center, both on the road to Seward.
