Hi All,

I am a new member and looking for advice on favorite photography spots on the Kenai peninsula in early to mid June.  I enjoy both wildlife and landscapes.

It doesn't look like the regional Alaska forum is active, so I thought I would start here.

I have 10 days to explore and will only be visiting the peninsula (been to Denali several times on past trips).

So far, here is what I have planned so far:
1 night south of Anchorage - will visit Potter Marsh
1 night in Whittier - glacier cruise
2 nights in Seward - explore wildlife refuge and Kenai Fjords tour
2 nights in Soldotna - day trips from there - nothing specific planned

I have 3 more nights to book.  Does anyone have advice on specific areas that I should not miss and where to stay the last 3 nights?  Opinions on Homer?

Thanks!

Wendy:

i did a sea sea kayak trip in Kenai Fjords to Pederson Glacier, a day trip, booked in and leaving from Seward.  It was about 8 years ago.  Very safe.  Although I am a very experienced sea kayaker,  one does not need to be for this trip.  It is very safe.  It is quite a thrill to paddle in between house sized ice bergs.  And one can get very close to the glacier itself.  This was an all day event and well worth the price.  Skilak Lake is on the way to Soldatna and worth a stop.  It is one of the largest freshwater lakes in the state and quite desolate.

Have fun...

Thanks David.  I checked out a video of Skilak Lake.  I will defiantly stop off and see it.  I appreciate the suggestions !

Kenai lake in the evening near the Quartz Creek campground. You hike in from paved road.

Kenai Lake from the Ptarmigan Creek outflow in the morning has great light as the mists lift off the surface.
