I've got a new Mac laptop and would like to migrate PS6 from my old laptop to the new one.  I've figured out how to get to the Unix installer to run, but can't find my serial number.  (Somebody forgot to write it down "several" years ago...).  My Adobe account doesn't show any purchases prior to this year.  Is there another way to get the serial number?

After much searching, I've figured out the process and successfully installed PS6 on my new MacBook Pro.

One trick:  You need to get to the Terminal and run the Unix installer for it to work.
Right click on the Install icon in the CS6 folder.
     Choose "Show Package Contents"
     Select the MacOS folder
     Run the Unix installer

The other problem was my serial number.  My Adobe account didn't show this purchase because I bought CS6 under a volumne license.  I needed to go to the Adobe Worldwide Licensing web site and sign in.  That's where my product and serial number were found.

Good for you, Mark. Really glad you got the legacy PS to work.......cool

A year ago I migrated to a new PC and kind of went through similar issues. I wish I could say I found a clean way to get it resolved, but I cannot recall how I completed my CS5 installation & got it to work.....wink
I think I actually did a lap link of the entire previous program from the old hard drive....indecision

Congratulations, Mark.  I just migrated to a new operating system on my laptop and told the tech to go ahead and wipe the hard drive as it didn't have much on it.  Unfortunately, it had Photoshop and I didn't uninstall it before the wipe, so Adobe still thought it was installed on a machine.  After waiting almost 3 hours to chat with their "support", the tech told me to download the install files again.  I didn't think that would work, and it didn't.  Instead of going through that again, I bit the bullet and went to CC.  The have no phone support for CS6.

Paul and Mark,

Glad to hear you were able to get PS to work on your machines. Honestly, I was a holdout, keeping CS6 on both my PC's, but finally bit the bullet for the $9.99/ month Photographers Plan. In my opinion, the improvements over CS6, and especially over CS5, are quite substantial. I am currently using PS-CC 2017 and Bridge-CC 2017, and both perform nicely on Windows 10. I have no need for Light Room. If you do a lot of processing in PS, or LR, the plan is a good deal.

Another reason to upgrade is legacy versions of Adobe apps may not work with future releases of operating systems, hardware, and devices such as video cards. There is also the issue of lack of tech support for legacy applications, as Dennis mentioned.

It is worth keeping an eye out for potential incompatibilities.
