I've always used lightroom 5 and ps elements. I have online, topaz and NIK. I've never used the full ps program. I want to edits more easily especially BG changes. I feel like I'm spending way too much time at the computer.
The full ps has always sounded like it is faster in editing with fewer steps....is this correct? I see that the 9.99/month is really the only way to get the full ps without spending a whole lot up front on an older software version on used. Is it worth it? Pros...cons...?

IMHO it is totally worth it. I railed against the monthly plan when it came out like so many others and now I would not have it any other way. It's a couple of Starbucks a month and I get BOTH latest versions of Lightroom and Photoshop. Photoshop intimidates so many because of all the things it can do and how complicated it seems but the reality is, you don't need to use all it can do. Use what you need and those features will indeed be faster, cleaner, easier than Elements. The "bonus" is Lightroom too and since you're already using LR5, I assume you're aware of how great it is. LR CC is even better than LR5. Finally, both LR and PS are continuously updated as bugs are fixed or features added or enhanced. No more having to buy an upgrade, yearly for Elements and every two years for PS. Take the plunge. There are no cons. You'll be happy and I believe there is a deal for new subscribers to get it for $7.99. Not sure but worth investigating.
Lucy, I will echo John's comments. It is totally worth it. I, too, railed against the subscription paradigm, but when I figured out the cost of the upgrade mill, it became clear that this was much better in terms of return on investment. PhotoShop CC is vastly improved over CS6 and will certainly outperform Elements. Sure, there is a learning curve, but it should not be too bad because you already use Elements and LR. You plugins should still work in PSCC--you simply need to install them once you are up and running ( I do suggest downloading the latest versions, however).
