Okay, sorry my topic title is so not original. :)
On my birthday this summer, alligator mating season when the male gators move around a lot, I was at a wetlands and I was walking on the trail and all of a sudden I saw this alligator about 8 feet from me on the side of the trail. I didn't have a zoom lens on my camera, so I got as much of him in the picture as I could and kept walking. Floridians are not afraid of alligators, but we respect them, and I would normally never get that close on purpose, especially to one this big. A little way down the trail I turned around and looked and he was crossing the trail to the water on the other side. I wasn't in a position to get a shot of that, though.

Looks like a snake in the grass to me. Nice perspective Barbara.

Nice. The pensive gator.

Good to be respectful! And to move out of the way! I echo Eva - Nice perspective, and good focus on the eyes. Not being a Floridian, I don't know if I would have held the camera steady enough for a nice focus an anything.
