Hi everyone,
Just letting you all know that I have heard that avian gallery regular contributor May Haga has passed away. She was in her late seventies and still taking fantastic images and as far as I could tell her photography was still improving. I don't know what happened, I had spoken with her on the phone a few weeks ago and she didn't indicate anything was wrong. She was my first workshop participant and went on tours with me all over South America and became a close friend of me and my family. She was a great bird photographer but an even better person. I will miss her great sense of humor. I guess we should be celebrating her life and photography but right now I am just very sad.

Sad in deed, I always made a point to view her posts of wonderful images when I saw her name. She will be missed but I'm confident looking down from heaven at the birds with a smile.

Such sad news. I enjoyed her images very much and cannot recall her posting a bad photo. This is a serious loss to NPN and all of us who enjoyed her wonderful work.

Terribly sad news Nate. May was an inspiration to many of us who admired her work. A great loss for NPN and the Avian community.
What a loss...to the photography community, as well as her family. Early in my time on NPN, she often offered personal advice and instruction, and really inspired and mentored me. What a great photographer and lovely person. She will be sadly missed.

I am heart broke to learn this very sad news. I was privileged to get to know May a little bit while spending time photographing with her during a couple photo workshops she took with Nate and I. She was a genuinely happy person, always smiling, and a lot of fun to be around. And an excellent photographer too!
I'll Miss Her

She was a great bird photographer and I always enjoyed looking over her images. She set the bar pretty high and provided me with an inspiration for my own work. Her photo of a common yellowthroat will always be a favorite of mine.........................Jim
Very sorry to have seen this notice. Reading her obituary and how it was worded is a positive & wonderful outline or testimony of May's life. Her background listed gives strong credence to an amazing life overall. Her gallery provides insight to a caring person, especially towards avian & wildlife.
