Light Painting at Cape Royal
After getting the sunset image of Motan's Throne, I decided to leave the 24mm TS-E lens on the 6D and try my hand at light painting a Pinyon pine only a few feet beyond the safety railing at Cape Royal.  I waited for the blue hour (more like a half-hour) thinking that the deep blue would make a better counter-point to the green foliage than a dark grey or black background.

To tell the truth, every single one of my previous attempts at light painting at other locations (mainly in Zion NP) had been colossal failures, so I was very pleasantly surprised at how well this one turned out.

BTW, hiking around the North Rim was a taxing experience since I lived the last 49 years of my life between 100 and 200 feet above sea level.  Altitudes of 7900 to 8800 feet not only feature reduced air pressure, but also at least 20% less oxygen than what I'm accustomed to breathing.  Nonetheless, I'd love to make a return trip and spend about a week at the North Rim.

P.S.   Directly behind the Pinyon is the Vishnu Temple formation.
