PS6 brush problem

I was doing some dodging/burning using the brush tool and TK's masks when suddenly the round tool turned showed up with a round, but very jagged edge.  I've been trying various brush presets, but can't seem to get back to the clean round brush.  How do I get back the round brush or will the jagged edge one work fine?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark, the little arrow at the top right of the brush palette should pop out a menu that has a Reset Brushes option. Just make sure you first save any custom brushes you may have made. The brush palette will mostly clear back to the default, then you can open that flyout menu again and load back in any or all of the brushes the PS CS6 comes with. If you just want the good ol' round brush, then Reset should do it.

Also, I've been having an issue with Win10 and Nvidia drivers on my editing laptop (gamer machine), and often the Prefs seem to switch to built in graphics instead. Regardless if you are PC or Mac, just check to make sure Photoshop is using your graphics card or built-in video, if that's turned off, it affects things like brushes for cloning and other stuff.

Hope you get it sorted!

Thanks, Paul.  While I found and reset the brushes, that didn't solve the problem.  Is it possible that I need to trash my preferences file and reset those?

That would be worth a try, Mark.

Can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing?

I can't take a screen shot.  As soon as I bring any other program into the foreground or try a screen capture, the brush disappears.  Here's a slightly oof (and upside down ;-0 ) cell phone shot of the brush.

Mark, were you ever able to solve this?

My soft-round brush edges looks like small dots around the circumference, with higher density of dots graduating to lower density of dots as I look outward from the center.

Preston, so far, I'm living with it and going to 50 - 60% for broad area dodging/burning to improve uniformity.  I'll double check when I get back to MD next month to see how things operate on my desktop and report.  It's possible that I was using the 100% hard brush, but I don't think that's the case...
