Morning Calm at Coot Lake

For sometime now I have been trying to master the technique of doing what is known as focus stacking in combination with my stitched photos I use to do my landscapes. This morning I think I finally nailed it. This is a shot I did at Coot Lake SW of Longmont. The goal was to have the grass in the nearest foreground in focus while maintaining perfect focus of the mountains.

The final image is a combination of 160 images. I started by taking 5 images each with different focus from near to far. These images were processed using Focus Stacking software to form a single image in which every thing from very close to the horizon is in focus. This yielded me 32 perfectly focused images which I then stitched into a final 32" x 67" photo. Shot at f-11, 1/250th sec. 7 ISO 100 with 50mm lens.

What a lot of patience! In my opinion it paid off, many times over. It's beautiful.
