We have a pair of Barred Owl that lives in the nearby Central Ridge Park. They have been there since i moved to Florida in 2007. The park has a small forest around a small lake. The Owls have become accustomed to people as they walk through the park, many times right under the owls. It used to be hard to find them, until i started using a call. Now when i am down there i get setup and make a short Barred Owl call and that’s all it takes and they come out from where they are. If they get separated for any amount of time they hoot to each other until they join up then the wood comes alive with their meeting call. Here is a photo of the two together.
