just a heads up that Leslie Gulch in Eastern Oregon is badly burned by this summer's fire and isn't worth photographing IMO. This area was considered to be a great destination for landscape photographers. The first 25% of the canyon is actually intact but the remainder to the waters edge has no plant life on one side of the road. The lake is way down so the road now leads to a river rather than to a lake.

Thanks Igor!  It's amazing how much the fires destroyed in the PNW this year.

Thanks for the report, Igor.  I was in southeast Oregon earlier this week and was thinking about going to Leslie Gulch. I'm glad to decided to go elsewhere!

That's sad. Such a lovely place.  I went there two years ago and found the lake to be a very thin stream at the Leslie Gulch boat launch.  Fire is so destructive in the short term, but this likely means that next spring there will be some interesting new growth, maybe some resurgence of flowers.  I don't know whether the soil color has been permanently charred, but hopefully we can map the place's gradual rebirth.
