NPN Age Demographics

The numbers do not surprise me, and FWIW, I kind of like them this way!

Interesting....  A couple of comments.

1.  I'm surprised (and delighted) that there are members in the 18 - 24 group.

2.  Outside of the 55 - 64 and 18 - 24 groups, the participation is fairly constant (12% - 18%).

As an aside...were I to be getting into "serious" photography right now, I suspect that I'd be strongly considering a mirrorless (or possibly a high end P&S) given the expense of much of today's SLR hardware.

Ditto.  On my 50D, I rarely use the viewfinder any more and I love the articulating screen on the G11.  Those mirrorless cameras look very nice (as in small and light) but I suspect my income would have to get back to where it was 5 years ago (2X what it is now) before I could even consider it.

I assume the +65 bar is open ended on the top number.........sad......blush

Paul, I assume that would be correct - and we wear our age with pride!

It might also be interesting to see how it has changed over the past fifteen years ... (say, every five years so three extra data points at YR0, YR5 and YR10) and to make some sort of projections of where it might go at YR20, etc.

I agree with Stuart in that it would be interesting to see the demograhics from at least year 5 and year 10 compared to today. The accuracy of a trend line analysis out to year 20 may be error prone if the variance in pervious data is high, but if it's fairly consistent, that would be an interesting data point. It would be nice to see the 18-24 and 25-34 groups grow.

I believe some of our valued younger members aren't represented in the graphic.

Brian, you are correct.  I'll have to see if Google analytics can capture that segment.
