I have done a lot of reading on using a gimbal head for heavy telephoto lenses.  In the near future, I will be purchasing one and need to know what to look out for when making a purchase.  My local camera store carries the ProMaster brand and I was not impressed with the mechanics for this device.  Wimberley is a nice piece of equipment, but priced out of my budget.  With comparing gimbals to the Wimberley, how do brands like Lensmaster, Jobu, and other brands rank in terms of functional ease, durability, and stability?  Thanks for your input..............................Jim

Jim:

The first question I'd have is what lens are you planning on putting on the Gimbal.  Different requrements for something like a 600mm f/4 and a 300/2.8 or a zoom 100-500 kind of lens.

I would be using the gimbal with a 600mm f5.6 which weighs in at about 7.5 pounds..................Jim
