The Skyfire app predicted good chances for a colorful sunset over the eastern end of the Grand Canyon this past Sunday, so I headed up with Shane McDermott. The wind shifted from the south and brought some smoke from a wildfire into the Desert View area right before sunset, so we made haste to Moran Point to move just west of the smoke. We were able to set up just a few minutes before the sky began to change colors.
Doug, thanks for posting this here! If it had been on Facebook, I know for a fact my appreciation of it would have been diminished due to the heavy compression artifacts that this image would have suffered.

Thanks Bret. As always, if you have any suggestions, don't hold your tongue.
Jim, thanks. I do prefer the 1600px/1kb images here on NPN now to show more detail and not having blocked shadows. Thanks again for the upgrades.

This is pretty awesome, Doug. Love the soft colors and the composition showing just a bit of the river in the canyon. Great work.
