Nolan River Flooding

Here are a few images from the Nolan River south of Fort Worth.  The Nolan is a small river that is maybe all of 40 miles long.  It starts in the farm and ranch land just south of Fort Worth in Johnson County and flows almost due south through Hill County where it joins the Brazos River at Lake Whitney.

It is a place I frequent as I can be there in under an hour.  It is normall a quiet river that is shallow enough to wade with a pair of wellies as it flows over a rocky base.

It is now a running at 30+ feet deep.  It is out of its banks.  This is a view from an old railroad trestle, the water is within 5-6 feet of the top.

Another view of the Nolan where you can see how far it is out of its banks.

Water from the Nolan is cutting a bend of the river and flowing over the local roads.  Here the Sheriff's Department is directing traffic through the water.

View of one of the bluffs along the river.

If you made it this far, one more for perspective.  This is normal flow below the trestle.  Notice the person for size in the back on the rock.  Now scroll back up to the top image and see what the view is like from the trestle.

Darren, an amazing scene for those who don't live there, but I'm sure a major headache for those that do. You've documented the flooding well with these photos.

BTW, you can open the first photo in the viewer and toggle through them from there.

Thanks for posting!
