Large Photo Thread

The purpose of this thread is to demonstrate the new large photo capability of the updated forum software;

  • Maximum file upload size is 1600 pixels/1MB
  • "Intermediate" 720-pixel photo (the one that appears with your post) is automatically generated
  • Clicking the 720 opens your original file - completely unaltered with no compression to browser limit - in the Lightbox Viewer.  Note that the software will downsize a photo to fit the viewer's browser window.
  • Maximum size files can be uploaded/posted in replies

The photo I have uploaded in this post was sized to 1380 X 920 pixels to fit my browser window (1920 X 1200 screen res) with no downsizing. In the vast majority of cases, the limit for no downsizing will be hit on the vertical dimension first, the software downsizing the photo to about 87% of the available space.

We think this new feature (along with the new Rich Text Editor) will greatly improve the utility of the regional forums.  Please feel free to upload a "large photo" in a response below and check it out for yourself!

That sounds like a good feature Jim.  Thanks!

I hope others think so and will start posting images again.

Here is one I did in the Guadalupe Mountains.  Sized at 1600 pixels and saved at a 10 or 12 on jpeg compression

Sorry,, I forgot to add text. This is a great improvement and I hope it brings some interest back to the forums. I still try to follow but due to some life changes just have not had time to get out and shoot.
