Interpretive Image v4 - Evolution v2
This ought to be a familiar scene ... looking SW on U.S. Rt. 163, near Halchita, Utah, near Monument Valley. For those more into pop culture, this is where Forrest Gump stopped running.

The original shot was made around Noon to 1pm in the Fall. Not exactly what anyone would call ideal shooting conditions. However, it did seem to be the best time of the day for the least amount of traffic if some fool wanted to stand all alone in the middle of a highway.

And this is how I chose the "interpret" the scene. The original scene conveyed a sense of emptiness amidst a dramatic landscape. My intent was to emphasize that emptiness by reducing the scene to its simplest tonal elements.

As usual, all C&C cheerfully accepted.

Howard, you achieved your intent quite well. I particularly like the way the highway is such a focal point in the midst of a long and "hard day's night".

I think you hit your target, Howard. The color version is nice, especially considering the time of day, but the second take at it is very compelling.
